Welcome Back

Welcome back to another year of learning and fun here at Columbia Park Elementary.  Class lists will be posted on the main doors Friday afternoon. Things get started on Tuesday September 5th with our Mug n Muffin.  Parents are encouraged to come to school at 9:30 with a ‘Mug’  so they can enjoy a coffee.  We’ll have some muffins and cookies too.  It’s a time to meet and mingle, and chat with other parents, children, and school staff.  At 10:00 the bell will ring and students will head off to their classes until 12:00 at which point they’ll be dismissed. See you there. Don’t forget to look at the Google Calendar below with information on school events for this upcoming year … oh yeah, and follow us on Twitter @ColumbiaParkSch for daily updates on all that’s awesome at CPE!

Satisfaction Survey

Students in grades 3,4,5,6,and 7 will be completing the BC Ministry of Education Satisfaction Survey in the next few weeks.  Of course, we use this information to help us implement programs and to guide us in our planning for the future.  If you would like more information, please see the following Ministry of Education website HERE.   There is also a Parent Survey, but only parents of grade 4 and 7  students are invited to participate in the survey. Please click HERE if you have a child in grade 4 or 7 so you can finish the survey.

School Goal

Click on our About Our School – School Goals to have a look at our updated school goal for this year. Once again, we focus on the social-emotional wellness of our students — we believe it is the foundation on which all learning occurs.

Report Card Changes

Updated December 6th, 2016.  You may have heard that report cards are changing. In the November newsletter you’ll see a more in-depth discussion about Reporting. This year at CPE teachers will be using a variety of methods, such as student self-assessment and FreshGrade. Parents at CPE will engage in student-led conferences for their children in late November, and April this year (along with parent/teacher interviews on January 25 & 26). In both late November and April, a written, progress profile for each child will be given to parents as well as the student-led conference. A final, written learning profile will be issued for each student at the end of the school year.
