Principal’s Message:
Happy New Year and welcome back to school! It is wonderful to be back at CPE as Acting Principal while Mr. Pfeiffer is at RSS. In my first week back at the school, it is easy to identify the key strengths of CPE: kind and caring students, committed teachers and very supportive parents. I look forward to getting to know all the students and meeting parents throughout my time here.
We are continuing to discuss being RAISE role models this month with a focus on reviewing expectations, both inside and outside the school. Please ensure your child is coming to school with jackets, mitts, toque and snow pants and I also ask that all students to leave their electronic devices at home. If your child is required to have their cell phone at school, it is to remain in their backpack on silent mode. Please phone the office if you need to communicate with your child.
We have a very busy month with school sports and programs! District basketball is under way with games being played on Thursdays. Afterschool Nordic skiing, Grade 4 Nordic skiing and Grade 6 skiing/snowboarding at RMR begin next week. Reading for our district Battle of the Books continues and Explorations starts next Friday for our intermediate students. There is a lot planned for CPE students to keep them engaged and learning.

HOT LUNCH – FREE – Chinese Food – Friday Jan 19th
CPE kids love the hot lunch program, which is organized and sponsored by our fantastic CPE Parent Advisory Council. Friday, January 19th is our next date. NO cost to students for Chinese food; rice, noodles, chicken balls and veggies! – no order form needed. Please bring a fork and a container.
Student Surveys
In the coming months, there are two important, province-wide surveys that some students will be completing at CPE. Results of these surveys are used to help guide our school forward by identifying areas of strength and illuminating areas that we need to work on and develop. The first survey is the Middle Years Development Index (MDI) which is a survey that students in grades 5 will complete in January or February. Students are asked survey questions that focus on their overall well-being and include questions about their eating habits, screen time, and extra-curricular activities. The second survey is called the Student Learning Survey. This survey will be administered in Feb to students in grade 4 and grade 7. There is even a parent and school staff section of the Student Learning Survey, and it affords the opportunity for all stakeholders to give their input on the strengths of CPE and where our school can improve. Thanks so much for supporting these surveys in the coming months.
CPE Winter Carnival – February 9th
Every year in late February/early March, PAC organizes a winter carnival that begins in the early evening. Kids will be able to visit the concession, play Plinko, Spin the Prize Wheel, have a Pillow fight, and so much more. Did I hear someone say “Musical Cakes?” Yep, you heard right! So mark Friday February 9th on your calendar for the CPE Winter Carnival, an event open to ALL families in Revelstoke. To make this PAC Fundraising event successful, we rely on a lot of assistance from the CPE families. Whether it is donating a cake for the cake walk or assisting at a game or the prize table, we will need parent volunteers to make this all happen! Please keep your eyes open to forms coming home so parents can sign up to help out. Keep posted to the PAC Facebook page for additional information.
