R.A.I.S.E. “Respect all individuals, self and the environment”

Principal’s Message

As we approach the end of the school year, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the incredible efforts and achievements of our students, staff, and families. This June, our school community continues to shine brightly, showcasing strong work habits, positive attitudes, and kindness.  There are many exciting year-end activities lined up, ensuring that the final weeks of the school year are both memorable and enriching. Our students will be participating in various field trips, which provide them with valuable opportunities to learn outside the classroom and create lasting memories with their peers.

As we look forward to the summer break, let us celebrate the accomplishments of this year and anticipate the opportunities that lie ahead. I encourage everyone to take time to relax, recharge, and enjoy time with family and friends.
Wishing you all a wonderful summer!

Warmest regards,
Tammy Tomm
Principal, CPE

All library books and book bags are due back into the library no later than Friday, June 14th.  Thank you for taking good care of your books and thank you to Mrs. Wegner and Mrs. Tompkins for engaging and supporting students in reading.

Sports Day – Was a Blast!

Sports Day was held on May 29th. A big thank you to Mr. Weddell, Ms. Holmes for organizing our Sports Day! and a big thank to the CPE PAC for organizing Subway Day and all the snacks!! The weather was amazing and it was so great seeing all the parents out volunteering and cheering on the students.

District Track and Field

A big thank you to all our students for their outstanding sportsmanship and participation in the District Track and Field events.

Our grade 4 to 7 students who qualified during sports day attended with positive attitudes and gave their best effort!

Jump Rope for Heart

A big congratulations to all the parents, friends and family members who supported our Heart and Stroke fundraiser.  Together we raised just over $500.00 for heart and stroke research! Our younger students also had a great time learning about jumping rope and all the tricks you can do! Thanks to Ms. Russell, Ms. Theberge and Ms. Kerluck for all their work organizing the event and skipping club.

New Kindergarten Orientation

We will be welcoming 28 new Kindergarten students to our school in September.  Our new Kindergarten students will be coming to CPE on June 13th for an orientation session.  Our current Kindergarten students will be dismissed at 11:30 am.

Grade 7 Celebration

Our grade 7 students had a great time at Sunnybrae, connecting with the other grade 7 schools in the district.  Thank you to our parent volunteers for helping at camp and making it possible!  As is tradition at CPE we will be hosting an evening where we celebrate and say goodbye to our grade 7 students who are headed off to RSS in September.  Our celebration will be in the gym on June 19th from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

Thank you to Jenna Low and Brittany Hislop who spent many hours organizing, collecting photos and creating the yearbook for CPE! Students will be provided with a beautiful keepsake at no cost, thank you to all our local businesses who sponsored the yearbook and made it possible.  Students will be receiving their yearbooks on the last day of school.

Year End Assembly

Not that the last day of school will be June 27th  for students.  Student dismissal is at 12:30pm on that day.

At 8:45 am we will have our year-end assembly, where we will hand out a few awards, say goodbye to a few staff and celebrate the year together.

Supplies and Agendas

Our school will be bulk purchasing supplies for the upcoming school year. This means that families will not have to buy school supplies from a list; rather supplies will be bulk purchased by the school and will be ready and available for your child(ren) when they arrive in September.  The student agendas will be included in the supply fee.  The cost of the agendas and supplies will be $45 payable on the first day of school.  Families with more than two children are only required to pay a maximum supply of $90.  Parents may also choose to opt out and purchase their own supplies.

Next Year’s Class Organization

At this time of year schools begin to draft class lists for the upcoming school year. Although student placements cannot be finalized until the first week of the new school year, this process allows us to plan for the best possible placements for all of our students. In our configuration, multi-aged or combined classes will exist. This practice is well supported by research, and it also accommodates the number of children in each grade.

Following is a list of criteria we consider when making student placements.
• the child’s physical and social maturity
• the child’s intellectual development level and age
• gender balance in each class
• the child’s interactions with other students
• parent information, requests
• student friendships
• student support services and the composition of the class
• the teaching style of the teacher and the learning style of the student

Although we do not consider requests for a specific teacher, parents are welcome to provide us with information relating to the above factors. Parents/guardians requesting special consideration are to discuss their child’s educational circumstances with the Principal.  As always, we may need to adjust classes through the first week of September when we determine how many students have arrived in Revelstoke or moved away during the summer break. For this reason, we do not publish class lists prior to the first day of school. If you have further questions, please contact Tammy Tomm at the school.

If you are planning on moving or know of someone who will be moving into our school area, please let us know.  This information will certainly help us to determine our class organization for next year.

Indigenous Education SD19

School District No. 19 students and families can self-identify as Indigenous, and there is no requirement to have a status card or blood quantum.  School Districts across BC recognize that many families with Indigenous ancestry do not have status or membership in a band, yet wish their child to participate in Indigenous programs, language learning, and access service from indigenous teaching assistants.  To register your child in School District No. 19 Indigenous Education, you can complete a permission form in September.  Forms are available in the office.

Have a wonderful Summer!
